Beth Taylor-Schott

Beth Taylor-Schott has been a poet-teacher with California Poets in the Schools since 2003. She has been involved in teaching since 1983 and has taught all ages, from pre-schoolers to adults. Before joining CPITS, she taught Art History and Writing at the college level for twelve years at Berkeley, USC, and UCSB. In 2002 Beth started her own life coaching business, This Life Coaching. Beth often works as a writing coach. Many of her clients have been published authors.

Beth earned her Ph.D. in Art History from Berkeley in 2000. She was awarded a Fulbright Scholarship to the Netherlands, as well as a Mellon Fellowship for study at the University of Leiden. She is a fellow of the South Coast Writing Project and has participated in the Santa Barbara Summer Poetry Workshop. In 2005 Beth was awarded a fellowship to the Santa Barbara Writers Conference through a Community of Voices poetry contest.

Beth publishes her poetry as Elizabeth Schott and has been published or has work forthcoming in numerous literary magazine including The Mindfulness Bell, South Carolina Review, The Handmaiden, Illuminations, and the anthology Mourning Sickness. Beth currently writes art reviews and features for the Santa Barbara Independent. She also maintains a poetry blog at elizabethschott.blogspot.com.
